Most accounting and tax professionals excel at helping clients manage finances but often neglect their own.

With rising costs and inflation, regularly reviewing pricing is no longer optional—it’s essential for maintaining profitability. Static rates can erode margins, and undercharging compromises service quality, leading to potential client loss.

Adjusting prices strategically enables long-term growth, allowing reinvestment and sustainability.

With Ignition’s new AutoPricing capabilities, ensure you get paid your true value and avoid underselling your services.

  • Effortlessly increase prices for multiple clients at once to simplify renewals, improve pricing consistency and grow profitability.
  • Simply create or renew proposals in bulk, then adjust pricing across all clients or specific segments with our easy-to-use pricing wizard.

Evaluate your pricing on an annual basis

Review your rates at least annually or before renewing client engagements. Instead of automatic renewals, use this opportunity to reassess pricing to reflect your value and maintain profitability. Regular adjustments ensure your firm stays competitive and financially strong.

When using Ignition, you’ll be prompted to review your pricing when renewing your engagements and can quickly apply a price increase.

How to Apply a Price Increase in Ignition: Different Entry Points Explained

Bulk price adjustments of draft proposals

When: You would like to adjust the pricing on draft proposals in bulk.

The price adjustment feature is available in the Pipeline tab. Select draft proposals and click Adjust pricing to open the service price adjustment step.

Bulk renewals

When: You are creating renewal proposals.

To create renewal proposals in bulk, in the Pipeline Tab select all the proposals you wish to renew→Renew

This will open the service price adjustment step where a percentage can be entered to be applied to all services on the proposals selected. Enable pricing rounding and by what dollar amount. The rounding applies to each service and to the pre-tax price.

In the next step, you can adjust prices for individual services.

Agreed active services

When: You need to adjust the price of a service but don’t need a client to sign a new agreement

Easily adjust active services after a proposal has been accepted including attributes such as the description, price, quantity, billing details and more.

To edit an active service, click on the Clients tab and find the client with whom you would like to make changes to their services.

Click on their Services tab to see a full list of their active services. Select the service you would like to edit and click Edit. Here you can modify attributes such as the details, price and billing.

Individual price increases in proposal editor

When: You would like to apply a proposal-wide price increase

The price increase feature is available in the Services step of the proposal editor. Click Apply price increase to open the price increase feature.

Enter the percentage you would like to increase each service by to on the proposal.

Enable pricing rounding and by what dollar amount. The rounding applies to each service and to the pre-tax price.

Click Apply and this will apply the price increase to each service on the proposal.

How to communicate a price change to your clients

To help with this step, there is a Price Update email and message template in your Ignition account that can give you a starting point for crafting your personalized communications.

If you engage your clients on a yearly basis, they should already expect a new proposal will be sent to them, and the pricing increase will be reflected in this. On the other hand, if you have ongoing engagement with your clients, it would be worth pointing out to them that they’ll receive a new proposal that includes the changes in pricing.
