Ignition announces 2024 Top 50 Women in Accounting

Ignition recognizing 50 women who are catalysts of change across the globe

San Francisco, CA, September 4th — Fifty inspiring women from across the globe have been recognized today in Ignition’s 2024 Women in Accounting awards. Now in its seventh year, the awards honor women who are catalysts of change, leading the charge in innovation and paving the way for a more diverse and inclusive accounting industry.

Nearly 850 women from 29 countries were nominated by their peers, colleagues, or leaders for this year’s awards. The top 50 were shortlisted by an esteemed global judging panel, with winners from Australia, Canada, the USA, the United Kingdom, Nigeria, Puerto Rico and South Africa.

Ignition Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Guy Pearson said, “Our winners this year truly exemplify what it means to be catalysts of change. Hailing from 7 countries and 4 continents, these women are leading the charge in innovation and transformation within the accounting industry. 80% of the women in this year’s Top 50 are first-time honorees, which underscores the expanding influence and impact that women are having on the industry and their communities.”

One example of this impact is Aixa González-Reyes, who led the development of the first High School Students Committee under the Puerto Rico CPA State Society, creating a path for young budding students into the CPA profession.

Ignition first launched the Women in Accounting awards in 2018. In 2024, the awards are centered on recognizing women as catalysts of change, driving innovation, and fostering a stronger sense of community within the industry.

Alex Falcon Huerta, Founder & CEO at Soaring Falcon, former Top 50 winner, and 2024 Women in Accounting judge, reflected on her experience judging this year’s submissions: “Reading about the achievements of the women I was assigned made me emotional and incredibly proud, as always. It's hard to truly gauge the full impact of what these women are accomplishing behind the scenes. The Women in Accounting Awards provide a platform for these efforts to be recognized and celebrated.”

The 2024 Top 50 Women in Accounting awards aim to empower women across the globe to embrace their roles as catalysts of change, confident in their abilities, leadership, and potential to transform the industry.
