Ignition’s 2022 Year In Review

Ignition facilitates 1.8m client payment transactions for their 6k accounting and professional services customers that engaged 511k clients globally

Sydney, Australia, December 6th — This year, Ignition, the world’s first client engagement and commerce platform for the professional services industry, has set new records in terms of growth to date - surpassing $3.5bn AUD in client payment transactions to help customers improve cash flow.

The platform, which is on track to drive significant growth in 2023 and beyond, helped its 6,000 customers evolve their businesses and scale their offering in the following ways:

  • Surpassed $3.5bn AUD in client transactions to date
  • Ignition customers saved on average 18+ hours each week
  • 511K clients were engaged and 660K proposals were accepted in 2022
  • 14 seconds was the fastest time to create and send proposal
  • More than 1.8M payment transactions were processed in 2022

Dane Thomas, Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer of Ignition said, “We’re thrilled to see the positive impact Ignition is having on our customers and community alike. It’s been another challenging year across the world, so maintaining cash flow, and optimizing revenue will be more important than ever to future-proof your business in 2023. At Ignition, we remain committed to helping customers make their businesses more efficient in order to stay profitable.”

This year Ignition released its first State of Client Engagement report, which uncovered the impact that awkward client conversations have on accountants and bookkeepers. The research results found that, each week, Ignition customers save, on average, more than 18 hours engaging clients, managing scope changes, billing and reconciling payments.

What’s more, Ignition continues to invest in its platform to help accounting, bookkeeping and professional services businesses operate more efficiently, optimize revenue, and deliver seamless client experiences. This is through partnerships such as the Ignition Smart Billing for Gusto in the US and launching proposal templates including tax planning and advisory templates with Intuit Tax Advisor.

Ignition’s most recent platform update, Service Edits, has made it easy for professional services customers to adjust the scope of work for existing client engagements to optimize revenue. This follows the State of Client Engagement report finding that unrecovered out of scope work is costing accounting and bookkeeping firms on average, per year, over $76,000 in the USA, over $103,000 in Australia, and nearly £70,000 in the UK.

Ignition also supported customers to improve cash flow and get paid faster by updating the Proposal Editor to allow customers to collect a deposit upfront on their proposals. This enables customers to gain access to working capital throughout ongoing projects.

To help accounting professionals update and maintain their capabilities, Ignition introduced the Ignition Certification Program, a free, on-demand certification course. Participants in Australia, Canada and the United Kingdom and in the United States.

The company also hosted its annual Women in Accounting Awards, which resulted in 938 nominations from eight countries and 35 first-time winners. Alongside this, with its partner, Xero, Ignition secured three nominations for App of the Year, and converted this into wins in Australia and the UK.

Dane Thomas said, “Providing professional services firms and their clients with clarity, confidence, and convenience is central to Ignition’s purpose. With the accounting profession working to shift clients to recurring and high value work, along with adopting cloud technology, 2023 poses an exciting challenge for Ignition to help its customers drive this focus with clients.”

“We will continue to invest in our platform to help accounting, bookkeeping and professional services businesses operate more efficiently, optimize revenue, and deliver seamless client experiences,” he said.
